"A Promise for Tomorrow" Youth Curriculum Unit

The Jason Foundation offers a school curriculum unit appropriate for grades 7 though 12. The unit is about the awareness and prevention of youth suicide. It includes statistical data on the magnitude of the problem, signs of concern, and information about available resources.  The content approach is “how to help a friend if you suspect they are thinking about suicide”. This program can be presented as a stand-alone program or as a part of another health-related curriculum.

“A Promise for Tomorrow” program kit contents include:

  • A discussion DVD, “Choices”
  • Promise Cards
  • Individual training CD for teacher (not for student presentation)

A Curriculum Agreement of materials must accompany all orders for youth suicide awareness and prevention programs.

Promise Program

Make a pledge to help keep your friends safe.  These wallet-sized cards are distributed to youth who want to commit to be there for their friends if they may need help.

C.A.R.L. (Community Assistance Resource Line) Informational Brochure

The C.A.R.L. is an innovative program in youth suicide prevention.  It is a 24-hour/seven-day telephone resource line for anyone who needs information regarding suicidal ideation in youth.  Trained Clinical Specialists answer the C.A.R.L..  They can provide important information to parents, teachers and other youth workers that help them identify and assist youth who are possibly experiencing suicidal thoughts. 

C.A.R.L is a confidential and free service.
